All through
the ages, poets, painters and inventors had been inspired by the effortless
flight of the birds. Many of their works reflect the great heights
to which the human spirit aspires for, i.e. our outer
freedom and inner growth. This is readily manifested when children
see birds in flight; they are spontaneously filled with joy and laughter.
They want to fly too!
The next time you visit the white mute swans in the Singapore Botanic
Gardens, try explaining to your children why the wings of these birds
had been clipped, and ask them whether it would be better for them
to fly free. I am quite sure they would, in their innocent freedom
as children, answer you 'YES!'. The swans, and all birds - clipped
and caged - will thank you for a swan
song well sung for a better world. Only.. if only, we let our
children teach us more in their simple and undefiled ways. |
