Ixora congesta (Family: Rubiaceae)
A native coastal shrub with brilliant orange-yellow flowers on red flower stalks. For some strange reason, this native beau has never attained any horticultural status in our own country. My guess is that - as with most commonly occuring plants, its conspicuous presence in our native vegetation make locals overlook them for more 'exotic' plants from abroad.
