Indusia (Tectaria vasta)
Look for fronds with immature sori and be equipped with a x10 hand lens.
This is the best way to study the character of the indusium. In Tectaria vasta,
the indusia look like dandruff. Actually, they resemble tiny white umbrellas
on magnification. The dark spot in the centre of the indusium is where the
underlying stalk is.
