| It is called
Wick Grass or Rumput kumpai in malay. Its inflorescence appears
to be a narrow terminal spike, but on close inspection, it can be
seen that it is actually a panicle with many long branches that are
not spreading but remain appressed to the rachis. The natural distribution
of Wick Grass seemed to be very poor in Singapore, and it is therefore
rarely encountered in the remaining wetlands here. |
