Hoya verticillata (Family: Asclepiadaceae)
Hoya verticillata is an epiphytic creeper once commonly found growing on coastal trees. The male and female parts of the flower are fused into a small column surrounded by a star-shaped corona (special appendages originating from petals). The leaves are thick and succulent, and bleed copious milky sap when bruised. Other native asclepiads include species of Dischidia, Tylophora and Finlaysonia.
