Earthy
Philosophy
'Seeing the small is insight; Yielding
to force is strength. Using the outer light, return to insight, and
in this way be saved from harm. This is learning constancy.' - Lao
Tsu, 6th century B.C.
Constancy is harmony. A little leaf taught me that
one day. It had fallen into the sea and, for a while, was bobbling
about in the water. Soon it was gone, drifted away with the current.
It dawn on me that day, that the leaf had moved though it was not
capable of moving. It was in perfect harmony with the sea. It yielded.
A yielding I saw in the grasses too; bending so perfectly with the
breeze. Indeed, seeing the small is insight.
So
too, in comtemplating my calling, I discovered how a 'little' word,
EARTH, could mean so much. By writing the letters
E, A, R, T and H in a circle, I discovered a continuous refrain of
EARTH & HEART woven into one. It reflects so perfectly the chinese
concept of 'yuan' or 'harmony' as a continuous circle.
I am yielding too to follow my heart, and embark on
a journey to celebrate Life and Nature in as much as a fanshell or
a rock paints the light. There is no better day to start than Children's
Day 2003. I wish for them -
One earth, One
heart, One vibrant journey
