Up, up and beyond, my good Astronut !
13 Mar 2005
Ah Hoe is truly a rarity in Singapore. He is possibly the last local 'kampong boy' still climbing and harvesting coconut trees.

If you are lucky, you might catch him in action on Pulau Ubin. Better still, go and buy one of his thirst-quenching coconuts at Chew Teck Seng Provision Shop that Ah Hoe runs with his family since young. It is one of the last surviving and genuinely-original rural enterprise still operating in Singapore.

Yes, Ah Hoe.... here I am coming soon ! The sweet charm of the old kampong world, served generously with your ready smile, is as intoxicating as your nuts !

Footnote: There is nothing more nutty than nut-stories ! Here's one for you nutty fans out there - Coconut Countries Competing !
