Echoes from the Hollow Stems
A new day broke as a black ant crept out from the hollow stem to
stretch, and the plant-hoppers took their places on the breakfast table
of a Guarumo tree (Cecropia peltata). 'It is fine if humans think me
a weed', said the giving-tree. 'If you will, please take a picture of me,
and tell the world how hollow and nothing that I am'.
